Kallpa Securities SAB has been a successful story in the Peruvian Capital Market. Four partners started the company from scratch in October 2008 right after the financial crisis started. Two and a half years later Kallpa has 1,400 clients (institutional & retail), and nowadays it has more than 5,000 clients. It ranks number seven among Peruvian brokers by volume traded in equities and number six by volume traded in fixed income in the Lima Stock Exchange. The company’s management has many years of experience in the Peruvian and US Capital Markets and is developing a new business model among Peruvian brokers.
Kallpa Securities SAB is a management owned company. The senior management owns more than 50% of the company. It's a truly independent broker, in a market dominated by Peruvian big commercial banks.
The company has three business units: Sales & Trading, Corporate Finance & Capital Markets and Asset Management. Moreover, it's one of the very few Peruvian brokers with Equity Research. The firm covers actively 22 companies, has four full time analysts and has one of the best Equity Research teams among Peruvian brokers.
Research has helped sell a well respected product among the firm's clients. In 2017, 70% of Kallpa's volume was traded by retail investors and 30% by institutional investors. Among institutional investors, the firm works with all Peruvian private pension funds, mutual funds, hedge funds and international funds.
The company also has a Corporate Finance and Capital Markets business unit, which is very active in M&A, primary and secondary offerings, advisory, project finance and valuations. By the end of 2017, Kallpa Securities has led primary offerings among Peruvian investors, raising more than US$ 100 million.
