BAI Cabo Verde was inaugurated in Praia, on the 21st of November 2008, by Sua. Dear Mr. the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Dr. Jose Maria Neves. It currently has a share capital of approximately 19 million euros, with shareholders BAI Angola with 88.96%, the Angolan oil company Sonangol with 9.20% and the Cape Verdean company SOGEI with 1.84%.
The opening of BAI Cabo Verde took place in the same month that Banco Africano de Investimentos (currently Banco Angolano de Investimentos) completed 12 years of existence in the Angolan market, having been founded on November 14, 1996.
BAI Cabo Verde has its Headquarters in Praia, the capital of the archipelago, where the Head Office, the Achada Santo António Agency and the Plateau Agency are also located, the latter two having been inaugurated in February 2010. Praia, the Bank is also present in the City of Assomada, whose branch was opened in July 2015, and in Ilha do Sal, where it has two branches, the Espargos Branch and the Santa Maria Branch, the last opened in February 2016. BAICV is also present on the islands of Fogo and Sal-Rei, with the aforementioned branches having been inaugurated in July 2019, thus ensuring its presence in the main financial markets of the country.
In June 2021, another branch was created, Montsú, on the island of São Vicente, where the Bank had only the Mindelo branch, with the BAICV network now having a total of 10 branches, thus reinforcing greater relevance in the system. financial sector, by starting to provide banking services in the largest population centers of five islands of Cape Verde.
